Wine of the Week

Let me preface this by saying that we are by no means wine experts. Cody did live in Italy for three years, however, he was eight and his wine consumption was limited. He also lived in the central coast region of California but was a college student and his wine consumption was limited to Trader Joes infamous “Two Buck Chuck”. That said, we like wine and we are learning more and more. Thus, we will occasionally be sharing some of our noteworthy selections. Usual requirements: affordability (Redford’s still got to eat), quality and when in doubt, artistic labeling.
This week’s wine is a 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Perez Cruz Winery in Chile. This wine was exciting. It was a spicy wine with sweet oaky flavors, light tannins and a strong but fruity finish. Served by the glass at The Summit, this is an excellent find at only $12.99 a bottle. For our Colorado Springs readers, it’s available at Vintages Wine and Spirits downtown on Tejon. This would probably be paired best with a hearty meat dish. We actually had lemon chicken with red potatoes and a Spinach salad and found it enjoyable nonetheless. Cheers!
