Come, Redford, Come

2 words that often come to mind when describing our dog, Redford are stubborn and strong headed; so naturally, his training has been going very well. He will do almost anything for a treat. Here is a story of what happens when there are no treats.



Today, Redford was actually really well behaved. He had one rampage in the morning, tearing around the yard barking, but continued the day sleeping, playing and getting loved on. Cody got home from work and decided after dinner to go down the street to the local park to play ball. He retrieved very well for at least 20 minutes (for him this is great. He is usually easily distracted between throws). When it was time to leave Cody called the dog to come and the dog stayed put., did not move and barked back (a common response). After several tries Redford still did not come. So Cody, always the patient one, got in the vehicle and drove away… Yes, really left the park without the dog. This bothered Redford very little. After driving a short distance around the block, Cody came back to find the dog perfectly content, still playing at the park. The second attempt involved using a faux treat as bribery. Redford regretted taking the bait once to the car. Thank goodness our dog is not homeless tonight.
